Trends and Insights: Perspectives on the supply and demand of digital skills and the degree of digitalization
The APEC Roadmap to Closing the Digital Skills Gap by 2030 endorsed by the Human Resources Development Working Group in September 2019, lays out a common definition of digital skills, sets aspirational targets, and details APEC-wide actions on a multi-stakeholder basis (governments, employers, and academia) to closing the digital skills gap and achieve lifelong employability.
Research by Burning Glass Technologies and LinkedIn in this report contributes to these goals by providing data to help APEC economies better understand the digital skills gap along with the APEC Digital Readiness Checklist, designed to help APEC governments, employers, and academia understand their levels of preparedness for jobs in the digital age and to support efforts to upskill and reskill workers amidst COVID-19.
The report launched at a virtual event on 26 / 27 January including over 300 diverse industry, government, and academic partners from more than 17 APEC economies.
